Pengaruh Penggunaan Alat Pelindung Diri Terhadap Kecelakaan Kerja di Kapal MV. EL JOY

Abstract

Work accidents are incidents that are clearly undesirable and often result in losses, whether in terms of time, property, or even human lives, occurring within a work process.  The captain has established regulations for the ship's crew to pay more attention to safety factors to minimize accidents, one of which is the proper and correct implementation of personal protective equipment (PPE). However, some crew members are indifferent to these regulations.  This study aims to determine the effect of using personal protective equipment on workplace accidents on the MV. EL.JOY ship. The sample in this study consists of 10 crew members of the MV. EL.JOY ship.  Based on the results of the data analysis using the t-test (partial test), it can be determined that the calculated t-value is 3.509, while the t-table value is 0.706.  Because the calculated t-value of 3.509 > the table t-value of 0.706, the hypothesis is significantly influential.  Thus, the variable of PPE Usage has a significant impact on the reduction of work accident incidents among the crew of the MV. EL JOY ship.  Meanwhile, in the Determination Coefficient (R Square) analysis, it was found that overall, the dependent variable in this study is very strongly influenced by the independent variable at 95.8%.  The remaining 4.2% is influenced by other variables aside from those studied in the research, meaning that the use of PPE by the ship's crew, when done correctly, can reduce work accidents among the crew and optimize their performance.
